Today, you have the opportunity to meet Júlia Machado, a Portuguese – American singer who won The Voice Kids Portugal 2023 and who represented Portugal in Junior Eurovision 2023!
How would you describe your victory on The Voice Kids and your participation in Junior Eurovision in one word?
Both were amazing experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life! The friends I made and what I learned from people around me — it was incredible, and I am very grateful!
How did your singing journey begin?
I started singing with a vocal coach when I was 6 years old, but I have been singing ever since I can remember.
When you started singing, could you imagine that you would win The Voice Kids Portugal and represent Portugal in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest?
No! All the kids on The Voice Kids were so talented that I never imagined I could win. But my mentor, Fernando Daniel, was amazing and helped me a lot — first when he saved me during the battles and later during the entire competition.
How did you feel when you won The Voice Kids Portugal?
AMAZING! A dream come true.
How did you celebrate your victory?
I celebrated my victory with my family and close friends.
How did you get the opportunity to represent Portugal in Junior Eurovision?
In Portugal, you only get to represent the country at Eurovision if you win The Voice Kids.
What does the song “Where I Belong” tell us?
It tells my story and the story of all those who are looking for their place in this world.

Yes! The authors were amazing and listened to my opinions.
Why did you choose this song’s style?
I identify a lot with this type of song.

My family encouraged me to try.

Believe in yourself! Get a vocal coach and go for it!
