When you were browsing YouTube, you probably stumbled upon a channel and wondered how it became successful. Today, we are going to meet Patricia and Valeria, who will share their experience of creating the channel.

How did your YouTube channel start?

Our channel began in a spontaneous way, recording small projects that we did at Mini Vinci, the academy that Patricia founded. But these were very short videos where we taught almost nothing, just the final result and that’s it. They lasted around 10 seconds, and we recorded them with an old mobile phone, and the shots were terrible. We wanted to show that technology is fun and accessible to everyone. The important thing at that moment was to share the projects we were working on and, above all, to show how much fun we were having with it. That was what sparked the beginning of Valpat.

When uploading your first videos, did you expect to have so much success?

Not at all! We did it because we loved sharing everything we were learning. We never imagined we would reach so many people. We started to realize the impact after our first talk together because at the end, many people approached us to ask about the platforms we used, the kits, and the projects we mentioned in our talk. Then, we realized we should share all of this. During COVID, we had an incredible experience because we did over 100 live sessions where a bunch of kids from Spain and Latin America joined in. What we loved the most was that we could chat with them and even share the projects they were doing. The truth is we are amazed to see what our channel has become; we have uploaded more than 650 videos and already reached over 200,000 followers, and we want to continue inspiring children, families, and teachers from different parts of the world.

How do you inspire children with technology?

The most important thing is to teach them that technology is something they can play with, experiment with, and create. We try to teach in a fun and accessible way, demystifying the idea that it is something difficult or only for experts. We always tell them that technology is there to help people and that they can use it to create solutions to incredible ideas.

Over time, has the channel evolved in any way?

Yes, a lot. At first, we only made small videos of simple projects. But as the channel has grown, so has our responsibility. We have expanded the type of content, moving from just publishing videos on YouTube to creating content for other social networks, making shorter videos. This has been a challenge because for us, condensing projects that take us hours and sometimes days into one minute is very complicated. Moreover, during this time, we have collaborated with large tech companies, participated in important events… But what brings us the most joy is reading the messages we receive from families who do the projects at home and from educators who use our content in their classes.

How do you feel about the success of the channel? How do you plan to maintain it in the future?

It’s amazing to see how far ValPat has come. We are thrilled to receive messages from boys and girls who have become interested in robotics and programming thanks to our videos. In the future, we want to continue growing, but always maintaining the essence of sharing and having fun with technology. We want to reach more schools and families, and continue inspiring children to dare to try technology.

If someone asks you for advice on how to create a successful channel that inspires children, what advice would you give?

The most important thing is to be authentic and have a genuine passion for what you are sharing. It’s not about seeking immediate success, but rather about offering something that truly inspires and motivates others. Additionally, it is essential to be consistent and always be learning. When your content reflects your enthusiasm and desire to help others, success will come naturally!
